Since we are in the dead of winter, I was reviewing some old photos. This one is from the beach at Hilton Head this past year. We had such a great time. Hopefully, the tax man allows us to go again this year. If not, I have already started saving for next year. It was probably one of the most relaxing weeks I have ever had (other than the trip home, but that is another story).

Emily is playing futsal this winter. Futsal is indoor soccer for those of you saying huhhhh?
Anyways, the season has been rough thus far as all the kids are adjusting to the pace of futsal versus outdoor soccer (think fast-break basketball with your feet). Tonight was a different story. After trailing 1-0 to the team that beat them last week 8-1, Emily’s team went on second half scoring streakto capture the win.
The scoring actually started late in the first half, with Emily providing an awesome assist from the right wing spot. She received the ball from the center striker dribbled up a few paces and the crossed the ball to the left striker who then one touched it in for a goal tying the contest up 1-1.
In the second half she had a number of kicks on goal. Her teammates got some rebounds and they went up 4-1. The final ended up being 5-3.
It was a great win and I anticipate the team improving tremendously from this week forward. I think they will surprise some teams the second time around.

Can’t wait…tip off is in 1.5 hours. Since the other rivalry game I follow (OSU and Mechicken) in football has been so lopsided in recent years, I can’t wait to watch a game where the winner isn’t known before the start of the game. Go Dukies!!!!!!!!!!!!

I coached basketball for the first time this year. I coached for the Calvary Christian 7-8th grade teams. By normal standards we had a less than stellar season. However, I can tell you that I had 8 young men who never stopped trying, never stopped competing, who never stopped believing, and for the most part gave tremendous effort.
From my perspective, we were very successful. Each player developed his skills and I saw tremendous improvement throughout the season.
I am not sure I will be coaching next year, but if I do, I look forward to having a group of hard workers back.
